State of mind few days before departure...

Pierre Denjean on Oufti (36), plan Fauroux 1991 (ed, oldest boat in the race)

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
“The thrill of the run of course, but mostly I want to accumulate miles for the Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6.50 2011 that I hope to do on a Pogo 2 if I manage to get sponsored.”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“Great, I can’t wait to set sails.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“I still have a number of electronic things to take care of, keeping in mind that I also have to get the supply, do the routing and prepare my race."

Milan Kolacek (Czech Republic) on Follow Me (759), Proto Manuard 09.

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
“To finish the race, that’s what I want. It’s only my second time running single-handed…”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“Very tired, I didn’t get to sleep more than three or four hours over the last five days.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“Work on my boat, I need to make some changes on things that I’ve noticed during the convoy, I’m going to have to do it myself. And rest, loads of rest.”

Do you plan on doing as well as David Krizek? (3rd in serie class Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6,50 in 2007)
“No, I intend to do better.”

Philippe Lacase on Istuardo (603), Pogo 2 Finot 2006.

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
« I’m a beginner… I’ve only done the Mini Port Médoc in 2009 so far. For now my goal is to finish this race! After that, who knows?”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“As a beginner I’m obviously a bit stressed and worried, but over all I’m really happy to be doing this.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“I’ve arrived from Bayonne (Basque country) just a moment ago, I’m going to check what needs to be checked and look at the weather forecast.”

Xavier Macaire
on Masoco Bay (472), Série Pogo 2 Finot 03.

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
“I want to do the best I can, just like I always do. I wanted to run on a prototype for the 2011 edition but my budget didn’t allow me to.”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“Cool, that’s it.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“I’m going to clean the hull, replace a cracked forestay, and then I’ll go sailing with my friend Jean-Marc Alaire (464, classe Série, même bateau Pogo2 Finot 2003) who has the same boat as mine…”

Paul Marette on Région Nord Pas de Calais (265), Proto Magnen-Nivelt 99.

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
“My goal is to finish in the first 5, I was 10th last year. After that I don’t know.”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“I feel confident, really impatient to see what the weather is going to be like.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“There are quite a lot of things that still need to be done on the boat, just odd jobs, check the security, the usual stuff, I need to register. The Région Nord-Pas-de-Calais is coming for a shooting before departure.

Sétastien Rogues, winner of the Select 6.50, first single-handed race on his new mini sponsored by Eole Génération GDF Suez (716), Proto Lombard 08.

What are your goals for this Mini Pavois 2010?
“Admire the stars at night… No, seriously I’m doing this for the pleasure, I want to win of course but most of all I intend to give everything I’ve got so I don’t have any regrets on the finish line.”

Just a few days to departure, how are you feeling?
“Impatient to pull the sheets.”

What are your plans for the next couple of days?
“I’m going to attend some Public Relations events with my sponsors, but for most of the time I’ll be preparing my race and resting, to catch up on lost sleep and prepare myself for the coming days.”
